This course was a complete refresher for me as it’s specific to proper and qualified accounting, helping me to advance to audit standards.

Hari sir is an ocean of knowledge. He has experience in working with several companies over his lifetime, most being in the Middle East. This brings light to the real-time information and limitations we may face with books of accounts, which no college or school could possibly provide. Hari sir is more than welcome to address accounting concerns we encounter in our day-to-day office tasks, which helps us understand if we are upto par with the IFRS standards or if we are deviating from any.

Though I was unable to make it to physical classes (being located in AlAin), I was provided with sessions, completely online; which helped me pass the certification in just two months. The classes were also managed in a manner to accommodate time for students like me, who have office on all five days. Appreciate their efforts.

With the competitive world we live in, I took the IFRS course hoping that it would help me get a more in-depth understanding of accounting, and of course to have an edge over the competition.  But, I got much more than that!

It was not easy to time travel to the past and be a student again after more than a decade. I decided to join EMERGE for CMA after evaluating various available options. My Journey to becoming a CMA was not an easy one. I started up from knowing nothing to becoming a CMA after going through failure. Having qualified as a Certified Management Accountant in my very first attempt is truly a dream come true. It was an excellent experience in Mr. Hari’s class & knowledge gathered during the course from him has given me a sudden growth in my professional life. Thanks to Mr. Hari for the support given to me to clear CPA and I did not even feel difficulty at any time during the course.

In early 2013, I came to Emerge looking for a short term course that should be challenging and at the same time attainable. CMA fitted the bill. I took the classes, wrote the papers and by November I was a CMA. I still recall, Hari Sir had said that I should take a shot at CPA and that I have the capability of cracking it, while I thought otherwise. In the CMA classroom, there was a big CPA poster (blue color on right wall) and whenever I saw it, I got the same feeling as an aspirant engineer would get seeing IIT or MBA would get on seeing the IIM…a distant (probably not attainable) dream.. 2 Months after clearing CMA I felt a vacuum and went back to Emerge and took the plunge fulling surrendering to Hari sir’s confidence.  In January 14 I started my classes and now, here I am after about an year and half, a CPA
What made this dream a reality? Of course the usual hard work, discipline, motivation etc but equally (or rather more) important is the teacher…Hari Sir. People of our generation are accustomed of learning from teachers who are strict, serious and command respect. Hari Sir has all and more. He can scold you for not doing homework and even will go to the extent of telling you “Why are you wasting your money here” if you are not attentive in class. He balances this by going out of his way to counsel, guide and motivates you. He knows what would work on you and to what degree and he uses it to perfection. Not to forget Madam, who is always showing the warmth and welcomes you with a smile and impeccable memory. The CMA course has enriched my knowledge in Accounting and Finance and passing the exam has been made easy by EMERGE. The teaching style, exam oriented approach and guidance by Professor Hariharan and the Staff has helped me in understanding the concepts and clearing CMA on the first attempt. My advice to aspiring candidates is to thoroughly understand the concepts taught in each class, workout all MCQs available to you and attempt all the mock exams by EMERGE after studying each topic. I joined Hari Sir’s classes in Dec ’04 and was one of the best decisions i ever made. Sir’s guidance and support was impeccable in every way.  Even though i attended classes for only 2 sections he was always there to guide me and helped me through the other sections too. Sir not only gave a 100% but a 150% to ensure the success of his students. The process of the entire CPA examination is quite an experience.  It is a tough exam but with diligence and hardwork it can be accomplished.

I was looking out for a CPA professor who had small batches so that I could get personal attention. I went to Becker for one lecture just to see how their classes were and was completely disappointed. Later, someone recommended Hari Sir to me and I loved the classes as it fit my requirement. I believe that the key to success on the exam is to practice all the sums that sir gives in the class as well as the sums in the Wiley/Bisk with dedication and clear the doubts with sir after class hours. Studying should be done at home simultaneously with the class sessions so as to avoid piling up of the load. Most importantly, all the tests that Sir provides should be taken. They help estimate where a person stands and how much more effort a person has to put in.  I would like to thank Hari Sir without whose effort I would not have been able to clear the CPA Exam. Practice maximum number of questions and that is the best solution to cracking these exams (from Wiley text book, Wiley Question Bank CD, Online test banks CPA review-for-free etc and AICPA sample questions).  Study material- Emerge Power Point clips, Emerge Class notes and Wiley Text books.

I would suggest the below study strategy for every CPA subject-:

Go through the power-point and class notes (module wise) and then solve few set of questions from the Wiley Textbook, check your mistakes and then go though the power-point slides/notes again and solve the remaining set of questions and if you still have trouble understanding any module only then go through them in detail in Wiley textbook and finally after you have completed covering all study modules as above, take all possible set of mock exams from the Wiley Question Bank CD and Online Test banks (CPA review for free and AICPA sample questions) in order to ensure proper time management is followed during exams.  Start solving questions from beginning, that keeps you on the drive without losing focus.

As everybody says Hard work matters behind every  victory, I would say “Smart work and Proper Time Schedule” is the stepping stone for every Success. Professor Hariharan sir’s incredible teaching style with industrial experiences was a real motivation for me to continue my studies. I wanted to suggest all the students of CMA that the “”EMERGE” is the best institute I have ever been since I have joined 2 more other coaching institutes previously as part of my CMA studies.

At one stage, I had thought that CMA is rocket science. I was sure that I won’t be able to pass CMA ever! One tip that I would like to share with future CMA’s, solve as many questions as possible, glance through the flash cards and make sure you give all the MOCK tests, they are really helpful.

After passing all 4 papers in the first attempt,  I can now look back and say that I made a great decision in joining Emerge for my CPA. At that time the exams were being held only in USA only. So it was a bit difficult to plan and go for it. When I came to know through Emerge that the exams can be taken in Dubai also, I decided to go for it. I joined Emerge and found the curriculum very convenient for people like us who are working. The counseling at the beginning, the classes, the preparation module and full time availability of Prof. Hariharan and his staff made it easy for me to prepare for the exam. I would like to thank Prof. Hariharan in providing his valuable guidance for completing CPA. The best part of the classes were the real life examples which made the classes very lively and interesting. Also, the class notes were highly helpful for last minute revisions – the notes were the crux of what was needed to clear the exam.

Very few Gurus/teachers dwell in our lives, one of them is Hari sir in my life whose name ‘recently incorporated’ after a long interval from my days at school. This occurs only when their influence reflects in real life. The learning does make meaningful when we apply those in our lives, in particular our professional lives and this will be achieved when we have “clarity” by dispelling darkness. Joining Emerge for CMA was probably one of the best decisions that I have taken.  Hari Sir teaches in a manner that makes difficult concepts very easy to understand.  Even today, I remember the examples that he gave from his experiences to explain certain topics.  The ambiance at Emerge is friendly, open and warm. The handout are very useful especially for last moment revision, home work forces you to spare time daily after class to go through the notes, practice online (Wiley) and then attempt to solve the sums.  Mock tests prepares you to understand areas of improvement.  It has been truly an incredible experience and I cannot thank Hari Sir enough for helping me achieve this milestone in my career.

I was able to complete my CMA Certification with the help of EMERGE.
